Saratoga Springs is a city with a considerable history. Famous
not only for its significance in the American Revolution, but also its world
renowned mineral springs and spas, America’s oldest thoroughbred race course,
many museums, thriving downtown with fabulous shopping and exciting nightclubs!
It has something for everyone!
Nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, Saratoga has been
attracting visitors from all over since long before the Revolutionary War. The
Battle of Saratoga is considered to be the first American victory and a major
turning point of the war. The Saratoga National Historical Park, a New York
State historic preserve, is one of the many attractions the area has to offer.
The Saratoga Racetrack officially opened its gates in 1863 and is the country’s
first racing venue. For six weeks starting at the end of July, the city is host
to tens of thousands of vacationers and racing enthusiasts. But the racetrack is
not the only attraction in the city; The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC)
is a 5100 seat amphitheater that is the summer home to The New York City Ballet,
The Philadelphia Orchestra, the Saratoga Chamber Music Festival, the Freihofer’s
Jazz Fest and dozens of live concerts featuring today’s most popular artists.
Saratoga’s numerous mineral springs are world famous for their rejuvenating
properties. The first was Congress Spring, located in what is now Congress Park
in the heart of the city. The Lincoln and the Roosevelt Bathhouse offer mineral
baths, massages and other spa treatments.
Another of Saratoga’s attractions is the Racino. The Racino, or the Saratoga
Gaming and Raceway, is an addition to the Saratoga Harness Track, which has
featured year-round harness racing since 1941. The Racino, opened in 2004,
features over 1,700 state-of-the-art video gaming machines, several restaurants,
and Vapors nightclub.
Our campground is only 8 short miles from downtown Saratoga Springs.
